When performed according to sound orthopedic and sports medicine principles, the dumbbell squat can be ideal for conditions such as knee arthritis, back pain, plantar fasciitis, SI joint dysfunction, obesity and many others.  To protect your knees and back, make sure to keep your shoulders back, belly drawn inward and limit squat depth to the position shown.
